Introduction

Villages are often perceived as serene and pollution-free areas, typically located in mountainous or highland regions, which offer significant potential for development as tourism destinations. Tourism potential refers to the attractions possessed by a tourist destination that can draw visitors to the area. There are three main types of tourism potential: natural potential (such as flora, fauna, landscapes, beaches, and forests), cultural potential (including traditions, handicrafts, arts, monuments, and other cultural heritage), and human potential (such as cultural performances, traditional dances, or other human activities that can attract tourists).

The development of tourism potential is crucial because it brings benefits to the local community. Tourism can foster economic growth by creating job opportunities, increasing income, improving living standards, and stimulating growth in related sectors such as transportation, hospitality, and handicrafts. Therefore, developing tourism potential not only contributes to local economic growth but also plays a vital role in the national economy.

Lebakmuncang Village, located in Ciwidey Sub-district, Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia, is rich in diverse tourism potential, yet it remains underdeveloped. Situated at an altitude of 1200 meters above sea level, with a mild climate and a total area of 800.26 hectares, the village is home to a variety of agricultural land, forests, and public facilities. Among its greatest assets is the agrotourism sector, which offers various forms of tourism based on agriculture, horticulture, and local culture. Agrotourism encompasses agro-education, agro-recreation, agro-cuisine, and agro-culture, all of which offer visitors the opportunity to engage in hands-on agricultural experiences, learn about local culinary traditions, explore the surrounding natural beauty, and immerse themselves in the region’s unique cultural heritage.
However, despite these potentials, the village faces a challenge in maximizing its tourism capacity and attracting more visitors, including international tourists. Therefore, effective planning, management, and database development of tourism potentials are essential to creating an impactful and sustainable tourism industry in the area.
